If you’re a snow lover then you must have loved all the snow that we’ve gotten in the past week. There’s been tons of the light fluffy stuff that fell onto our fair region in the last few days. Wednesday we say a total of 18cm fall, and another 6.2cm on Friday. With drifts the amount that was actually in our driveways was much higher. These last couple of snowfalls have allowed us to break the 200cm mark. The total after Friday’s snow is now 202cm for this season.
Anyone else realize that we almost always have the bigger snowfalls on Wednesdays this year? I noticed it last week. Every time there’s a big snowfall it also happens to be garbage day for my street. Coincidence? I’m not so sure!
Over the last week we’ve had a few smaller snowfalls. On Wednesday we had 2.6cm fall. It was very light and fluffy, almost like cotton balls. A shovel full of the stuff felt like the shovel was still empty. Ah, how I wish they were all like that!
It also snows on the 22nd and 23rd, with 0.4cm and 0.8cm respectively.
I know it hasn’t snowed as much as this time last year, but my snowbanks are bigger and taller than they were last year. I guess we haven’t had as many snow melting days.

The last few days brought us some more snow. Its now to the point where I can’t lift my shovel high enough in some parts. I just keep telling myself that there’s only a couple or so months to go before it all starts to melt away. We were greeted with 10.2cm of snow on Sunday and a little under half of that on Monday with 4.8cm.
On January 13th a light sprinkle of 4.6cm covered the region. I wish all snowfalls were like this. I find it shoveling snow relaxing when there’s not a lot of it. Though it was cold with the thermometer hitting -21 and over -30 with the wind chill. There’s no snow expected until next Monday, but the freezing temperature will be around until the weekend.
As the evening approached, the snowfall started to temper down a bit, as did the winds. Three is the amount of times that I’ve had to shovel the millions of snowflakes from my driveway so far today. As much as some of it was hard work, I know it will be nothing compared to tomorrow morning. That’s when I expect the most evil of man created machines to pass by, the demon spawn metal on wheels that we call the snowplow.

After everythins was said and done, a total of 22.4cm fell onto our fair city yesterday.
Mother Nature is gracing us with the first blizzard of 2009. After a quiet 5 days of no snow, I found myself staring at my driveway which covered with a white blanket of crap. They are calling for 15-20cm of snow before its all said and done, but with the high winds, I had up to 15 inches and not centimeters of snow and its not even close to being over yet.
Though we saw a lot of snowfall in December, it did not surpass the snow dump we had received in December 2007. We finished the month with 85.2 cm of snow, whereas in December 2007 we had a whopping 121cm of snow dumped in our fair Nation’s Capital.
